ABSTRACT
Oil & gas industry is one of the main pillars in the development of a country. As well as the competence of employees working in the oil & gas industry, it has also become a major focus for an organization engaged in the oil and gas industry. Competency development refers to activities performed by the Organization and its employees to maintain or improve the functional competencies, learning and employees' career. An employee who actively participates and gets support for competency development from the organization will affect perceived employability which will have an impact on increasing employees' career satisfaction.
The purpose of this research is to determine the effect of competency development to career satisfaction through perceived employability. The variable in this study was measured by survey to 111 respondents in EMCL Production Operations Department using statistical tools software SmartPLS 3.0. The results showed that competency development has a significant effect on career satisfaction, and competency development has a significant effect on career satisfaction through perceived employability, which means that perceived employability serves as a partial mediation effect between competency development and career satisfaction.
