ABSTRACT

PT Petrokimia Gresik will undertake the expansion or revamping of the Phonska plant which will affect the addition of Phonska fertilizer to be produced which will affect the entire supply chain of Phonska fertilizer.
According to Ballou (2004), the supply chain covers all functional activities related to the flow and change of goods from the raw material stage to the finished goods received by the customer. The design of supply chain network is one of the strategic activities that must be done in supply chain management which includes decisions on location, quantity, and capacity of production and distribution facilities. The distribution network strategy used by PT Petrokimia Gresik is delivery through a warehouse where the goods are delivered to customers from the factory through one or more warehouses or buffer facilities. Based on this background, the writer will analyze the Phonska fertilizer distribution system after revamping Phonska factory to determine the distribution system and requirements of warehouse capacity needed post revamping. Researchers used a simulation method to analyze the Phonska fertilizer distribution system.
Simulation is a series of methods and applications to mimic the behavior of a system, simulation is the right tool, especially if used to conduct experiments to find the best output of a system component. The results showed that the distribution system capable of offsetting the increased production capacity post-revamping Phonska plant is to increase the rate of Phonska fertilizer delivery that varies between each warehouse or buffer facility. It also required some addition and reduction of warehouse capacity or buffer facility for optimal Phonska fertilizer management.
