Economic Week or what is usually called E-Week is one of the largest work programs owned by the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga . This year, E-Week has the theme Indonesia Staring the World, where 3 sub-events will be held, namely social action, International Development Seminar Conference (IDSC), and Efestaphoria.
At the social action event held on Sunday (28/10), deputy dean I FEB Dr. Rudi Purwono, SE., MSE., said that coinciding with Youth Pledge Day, young people have an equal portion. Every individual young person definitely has their own advantages and disadvantages.
"Weaknesses are not an obstacle for us to show that we are capable, so let's show our strengths," he explained in front of 250 participants, both students and the general public.
Meanwhile, Hinanda Tomi Adikoro, as chairman of E-Week, said that E-Week consists of 3 sub-events, namely social action which was held on 28 October 2018, IDSC on 29 - 31 October and Efestaphoria on 3 November. Apart from FEB branding, he continued, E-Week was also held to show that Indonesian students are able to create activities that raise world hot issues such as disabilities, the digital economy and the youth creative economy.
The 2016 Management student added that the social action event was filled with talk shows inviting people with disabilities as speakers. This is because the issue of disability is increasingly widespread in Indonesia. Many people do not appreciate them and rarely even communicate with them.
"So we want to show that they are actually the same," he said.
Hinandi added that the event also wanted to show that people with disabilities have extraordinary abilities. He said that once there was a blind man who had just gotten off a public transportation and was silent on the side of the road. Suddenly someone took the disabled person across without asking first. Even though he actually didn't want to cross at all.
"So before helping, please ask whether they need help or not and teach them to be independent and respect them like normal people," he added.
Hinandi hopes that this event will have continuity in the future and will also be seen as a form of concern for the issues raised and can be useful for the general public.
