Three Universitas Airlangga took part in the final session of the 7th annual Java Business Competition (National Business Case Competition) held by Telkom University, Bandung on 27-28 September 2018. competition is a forum for the younger generation to be creative and get to know various things. cases in the business world.
The three students representing UNAIR in THE 7TH JAVA BUSINESS COMPETITION (NATIONAL BUSINESS CASE COMPETITION) were Haflan Alfiri Widrayat, Wahyu Rais Agung and Adinda Audrey Noviella, all three of whom were students from the Faculty of Economics and Business class of 2017. Team Megamind, the name of the group of UNAIR representatives presented business cases regarding Forecasting or Business Planning.
Various activities were carried out at the same time as the competition, starting from a study visit to Bandung Technopark to find out more about the Startup incubator to a quiz about Bandung Technopark itself and also the Business World.
The announcement of the competition, which was the highlight of the event, was held on Saturday, 28 September 2018, at the Bandung Technopark Hall, Bandung. Business Case proposals that had passed a series of selections, fifteen of the best teams were selected to enter the final selection.
Wahyu Rais Agung as the Megamind team leader, admitted that he did not expect to get the opportunity to take part in the final session of this prestigious national competition. In fact, he was pessimistic because he felt he lacked experience. He and his team brought up the concept of Forecasting using the Time Series Decomposition method which they felt was suitable for the case given, namely regarding operations and marketing.
“The idea generation process took about two weeks. Luckily, we were classmates in many subjects, so we knew each other's busy schedules. Likewise, managing time is relatively not difficult," explained Wahyu as head of the Megamind Team.
For Wahyu, students should not only study in class. Because according to him, what companies need is not just theory in class. For example, various abilities obtained when fighting in a competition, without realizing it, become soft skills that are useful in the world of work.
