(FEB NEWS) "Forward Together for Indonesia," was the message from the Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) in an interview in the middle of the *8th International Conference and Ph.D. Colloquium for Economics and Business* (8th ICEB) which will be held over the next two days in the Fadjar Notonagoro Hall, FEB UNAIR. With the theme "Sustainability in Social and Economic Communities," this event highlights sustainability in social and economic communities (30-31 October 2024).
This year's ICEB is supported by several universities as Co-Hosts, including Sultan Ageng Tirtayasa University Serang Banten, FEB Riau University, Trunojoyo Madura University, Palangkaraya University, Bengkulu University, PGRI Madiun University, Papua University, and Bali Ganesha Education University. The event was opened by UNAIR Vice Chancellor II, Prof. Dr. Muhammad Madyan, SE, M.Si., M.Fin., with UNAIR Chancellor Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE, MT, Ak., Managing Director of PT Pelindo Putut Sri Muljanto, Executive Director of Finance LPS Danu Febrianto, and Chair of the OJK Audit Board Sophia Issabella Wattimena, SE., MBA., CA as keynote speakers.
The 8th ICEB presented three main activities in the Tri Dharma of Higher Education: Ph.D. Colloquium, Research, and Community Development. In the Research session, 150 of the 200 papers registered passed the selection for presentation. This event also invited seven speakers from eight countries, including Prof. Dr. Johnny Jermias (Simon Fraser University, Canada); Ass Prof. Heli Wang (Lee-Kong Chan School of Business, Singapore); Prof. Elif Cepni – Karabuk University, Turkey; Prof. Philip Linsey (University of Western Australia, Australia); Prof. Anu Rommohan (the University of Western Australia, Australia); Prof. Zulkefly Bin Abdul Karim (National University of Malaysia, Malaysia); Asst. Prof. Murat Yas (Marmara University, Turkey).
In addition to research publications in international journals, ICEB encourages global collaboration in research and development of East Java MSMEs. FEB UNAIR collaborates with 80 MSMEs for continuous development and hopes that the speakers and lecturers can provide guidance based on their research, as part of FEB UNAIR's commitment to developing small businesses that have an impact on the regional economy.
