Public Speaking is a soft skill that the young generation must have in the current millennial era, especially for students who are active in organizations and will later be equipped to find work. Not only does a good GPA exist, but good speaking skills are also needed. Public speaking is something that is usually feared by some people who do not have self-confidence and feel they lack skills in public speaking. This lack of self-confidence is influenced by a lack of mastery of the material presented, appearance and skills, and other things. As a result, a perception emerged that to become a public speaker you must have basic abilities, namely skills or soft skills.
Thus, to face an increasingly advanced era and intense competition, HIMA EP held a 'Public Speaking' event with the theme Speak Up For Better Speakers which was held last month on March 16 2018 in the Mindrowo Hall of the Faculty of Economics and Business at 15 :00-20:00. The event aims to improve the public speaking skills of students from the Economics and Business faculty at Ailangga University, especially Development Economics students. This event was divided into two sessions by inviting speakers who were experts in the field of public speaking. The first session took place at 15:00 with speaker Ricky Indra Alfaray S.Ked (Public Influencer), and the second session started at 18:00 with speaker Daneil Teddy Budianto, SIKom (Cak Suroboyo 2015).

The event went smoothly and as expected with very enthusiastic participants. Not only did they get tips and tricks from the speaker regarding good public speaking, but participants were allowed to ask questions during the question and answer session, and could also practice public speaking with direct guidance from the resource person.

From a series of events that have taken place, it is hoped that what has been learned about public speaking will be useful for life as a student and later in society. The ability to speak in public is absolutely essential for now and even in the future because the ability to speak well in public underlies everyone's success in various fields.
