PENA KTI: Write, Then the World Will Know You
"A person may be as intelligent as the sky, but as long as he does not write, he will be lost in society and from history." (Pramoedya Ananta Toer)
Scientific Writing Training (PENA KTI) is one of the work programs of the Scientific Division of the Islamic Economics Student Association, Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga . This work program is a facility intended for Islamic Economics residents who want to learn, deepen and make achievements in the field of writing scientific papers. As the name suggests, this program focuses on deepening knowledge in the fields of reasoning and writing. Pena KTI itself is a routine program that is held once a week and is filled by speakers who are experts in writing.
The KTI Pena in 2018 is divided into two classes in training, namely beginner and intermediate . beginner class is a class intended for students who just want to start learning to write scientific papers. Students who take the beginner consist of students who do not know scientific writing at all, so with this training it is hoped that Islamic economics students will be able to put their ideas in written form under the guidance of experienced tutors. Meanwhile, the intermediate is a class intended for students who have previously been involved in the world of writing scientific papers and have won writing competitions at the national level, so in this class the training is more focused on developing and deepening higher skills in the field of writing scientific papers. Students who take intermediate for the long term are expected to be able to become tutors who monitor students who take beginner .
Pen KTI is carried out routinely once a week with curriculum and materials that each week require progress from participants. Pena KTI training is routinely carried out on floors 1.5 or 2.5, Discussion Room and Sharia Economics Department. Beginner classes are routinely held once a week with two sessions, namely Tuesday, 09:00-11:00 (Session 1) and 13:00-15:00 (Session 2). intermediate class is held every Thursday at 18:00-20:00, guided directly by Mr. Raditya Sukmana (Chair of the Sharia Economics Department). The Pena KTI training is a collaboration of all stakeholders at Universitas Airlangga , where the Pena KTI participants are Islamic economics students from all classes and the tutors are Islamic economics students, alumni and Islamic economics lecturers.
expected output beginner are able to write scientific papers and have won at least one national level scientific writing competition. This has of course been agreed upon and is the mission of every Pena KTI participant. To instill a strong commitment and desire, each participant at the start of the coaching was given an explanation of forecase which required participants to be active in writing. Apart from that, participants who are serious about deepening their knowledge through this training are required to sign a Statement of Commitment provided by the Scientific Division. To achieve this target, of course there are strategies to be taken. The Science Division divides participants into several groups consisting of three students, then these teams will become partners in participating in various scientific writing competitions. Meanwhile, to guide and supervise the team, the Scientific Division has also divided tutors into teams. So, one tutor supervises and guides two to three teams. Furthermore, after the team was formed, the Scientific Division also made a list of scientific writing competitions that were recommended and used as projects for Pena KTI participants.
After Pena KTI participants are able to express their ideas in written form and are able to make achievements in various competitions, the Scientific Division hopes that there will be a transfer of knowledge from participants who have taken part in the training to other students who have not taken the training. Apart from that, in 2018, the target of the Scientific Division is to be able to collect a minimum of 50 written works by Islamic economics students. Alhamdulillah, in April 2018 this target was achieved.
