It was such a great experience and a big honor to join the second
biggest multi-sport event in the world. This event is called the 18 th Asian Games
2018. I will start this with the amazing opening ceremony as great as you
watched on television. Those celebrations held on Aug 18, 2018 from 7 pm till 9
p.m. It's located in Gelora Bung Karno Main Stadium. I was on there at GBK Row
20 Zone 2 Door 4 at Category A Lower Right and I enjoyed every second the
opening ceremony from start till end. We can see the cultures of Indonesia
from Sabang to Merauke, from Miangas to Rote Island. People know the best
traditional dance from Aceh called Tari Saman. But I will say that some people
haven't known yet that Saman Dance is a welcoming dance which is done by the boys.
So, the one I will tell you that in the Asian Games Opening Ceremony, those
dances are called Tari Ratoe Jaoh from Aceh. These welcoming dances from Aceh were done
by the girls. It is continued by Sipitu Cawan Dance, Gending Sriwijaya, Piring Dance,
Flower Transition, Lenong Betawi and Jaiponga, Kecak, till the Eastest part of
Indonesia. All of the people are happy, enjoy, and enthusiastic to start all of the
matches.
There are 4 deputies and many departments by INASGOC (Indonesian
Asian Games Organizing Committee). I joined as a volunteer at Athlete Villages
(AV) and Services department. There are 7 towers over there. I as in-charge at
3rd Tower. There are 45 countries which brought contingent and stayed at AV.
In 3 rd Tower filled by India, Uzbekhistan, Kazakhstan, and Iran which are 1950
persons at those towers. Each tower contains 24-32 floors. 2nd Tower to 7th
Tower by athletes and 1st Tower filed by INASGOC, vendors, sponsorship,

normal job started at Aug 18, 2018. Some of sports were held early and the
athletes came early too in Indonesia. We are as volunteers have the role to
provide services and the best hospitality to the athletes, NOC, and the VIP guest event
. There are 3 parts of Volunteer, the first one is a Liaison Officer who was
wearing the red cloths that gave services to the athletes, then the second is
NOC-Assistant which was wearing the yellow cloths that gave services to NOC,
and the third is Protocol Assistant who was wearing the blue cloths that gave
service to the VIP guest like President OCA, president or the other excellency.
The daily activities were divided by 3 shifts. The morning shift works
at 6 am to 2 pm, the noon shift works at 2 pm to 10 pm, and the night shift
works at 10 pm to 6 am Each single shift contains 8 hours. In the morning,
the athletes prepared to go the venue (Cluster 1: GBK, Cluster 2: Jiexpo, Cluster
3: JCC, Cluster 4: Palembang (I worked only Jakarta)). Before going to the
venue, the athletes have to have breakfast at the Dining Hall. The volunteers from
Catering Department were in-charge over there. Then, they were going to Bus
shelters and volunteers of Transportation Department helped them to the venue
by shuttle bus. In the afternoon, most of the athletes are in the venue. Some of
them like the weather, so they were training and burning out their bodies in the
field. Then, in the night, there is a place called Amphitheater, many arts and
performances showed. The athletes enjoy it every second, everyone can
karaoke, dance, and interact with many athletes from other
countries before they return to the match the next day. The volunteers accommodate
them at the Amphitheater from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. Then, the athletes have to take a
rest and the volunteers back in their tower.

We worked in 18 days, and we ended by Closing Ceremonies. It was so
great show, there were so many artists, from local and foreign. The most people
want to see are Super Junior and Icon. Indonesia has done the job as host-
