Abstract

Creative performance is an important aspect for small and medium scale family companies in the creative industry. The aim of this research is to analyze and obtain empirical evidence related to the role of family company culture and leadership behavior on creative performance through knowledge sharing and competence as mediation. This research was conducted on small and medium scale family companies operating in the creative sector in East Java. This research is quantitative research that uses survey methods. The sampling technique used purposive sampling with respondents of 250 family members involved in family companies in East Java. The data analysis technique in this research uses Structural Equation Modeling (SEM) with the Analysis of Moment Structure (AMOS) program. The results of this research show that leadership behavior has an influence on creative performance, has an influence on tacit knowledge sharing and competence. This research shows that family company culture has an influence on tacit knowledge sharing and on creative competence and performance. This research also explains the influence of tacit knowledge sharing on competence, explicit knowledge sharing on competence, tacit knowledge sharing on creative performance, competence on creative performance. The research results show that there is no influence between family company culture on competence, leadership behavior on explicit knowledge sharing, and family company culture on creative performance. The results of the elaboration of this analysis can be a recommendation for family companies in running companies across generations by paying attention to family company culture and knowledge sharing behavior which can have an impact on the creative performance of family company actors.
