Abstract

The proportion of livable houses is one of the indicators in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Government programs regarding housing issues are not running as expected. This is caused by inadequate information on the determinants of home satisfaction. Home satisfaction can influence community participation in improving environmental quality (Handayani, 2008). Community participation which is manifested in community meetings and mutual cooperation activities is the main indicator in the formation of strong social capital. This study aims to analyze the determinants of home satisfaction in Indonesia and analyze the influence of home satisfaction on Indonesian people's participation in community meetings and mutual cooperation activities. The 2017 Happiness Level Measurement Survey (SPTK) data used in this study were analyzed using logit regression. The estimation results show that having your own house, having a wider floor, living in a livable house, and having access to life support facilities are the main indicators that determine home satisfaction in Indonesia. Individual characteristics that control for home satisfaction are age, marital status, regional classification, education, employment status, and household income. This study also succeeded in proving that satisfaction with home influences individual participation in Indonesia in both meeting and mutual cooperation activities.
