RUNNING a business is not just to make a profit but also for social action such as empowering the community as has been carried out by Selia Dwi Ratna Rahmawati, a Universitas Airlangga who was recently appointed as a mentor at the School of Business ormawa WEBS. At first, he noticed his mother's customers asking for services including clothes and make-up. From there! Ah, she is starting to get interested and add to her make up skills which have become her hobby. Initially, he made up prospective graduates and received positive feedback. Then he started his business career in 2015. "Make up is art, beauty is spirit." This slogan has
become the principle in running her business as a free lancer make up artist. She has also realized her dream, namely to make up a foreigner, namely an exchange student at UNAIR who comes from Germany. The turnover of this make-up service is erratic and tends to be seasonal, such as the Kartinian season, graduations, weddings and photo shoots. If Kartinian time can produce a turnover of up to 4 million a day. To run a make-up service, the losses are less visible because make-up equipment is not a single-use item and can be used many times. Apart from providing make-up services, he also rents out and sells kebaya and traditional clothes. He designed his own kebaya with a trendy design and sewed it at a tailor in his area, namely Tuban. The turnover from renting kebaya and traditional clothes reaches 5 million/month.
"Being able to become a professional MUA, known by all groups, and providing new innovations in kebaya design" is his hope for the future.
He also has the principle, "Business will be easy if it follows your passion, even though sometimes you lose money, you won't feel it." In marketing her own products, she uses Instagram with the account @byseliadwiratna for make-up services and @kebayaa.id for kebaya rental.
And he also opened a boutique in the Tuban area. -By: Selia Dwi Raina R.-
