UNAIR NEWS – The biggest education exhibition in Asia-Pacific which took place in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, is a golden opportunity for the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga to attract as many partners as possible.
FEB UNAIR has held at least strategic meetings with 22 foreign partners in the education exhibition entitled Asia-Pacific Association for International Education Conference and Exhibition (APAIE) 2019 which took place from Tuesday to Thursday (26-28/3/2019). The exhibition took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia.
The 22 foreign partners include Fontys University, The Hague University, Saxion University, Windesheim University, The University of Amsterdam, Netherlands; FH Aachen University, Germany; Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, International Islamic University Malaysia, Universiti Sultan Zainal Abidin, Polytechnic and Community College, Malaysia; Istanbul Şehir University, Türkiye; University of Versailles Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines, France.
Asia University, National Taiwan Normal University, National Yang-Ming University, National Central University, Taiwan; Nagasaki University, Japan; Myongji University, Yonsei University, Korea; Chulalongkorn University, Thammasat University, Thailand; and St. Paul University Philippines.
Of the many strategic meetings, some have been and are currently collaborating with FEB UNAIR, and some are completely new.
With new partners, the average collaboration is in the form of a program at FEB called the International Program. The program aims at staff and student mobility, in the form of outbound and inbound, as well as part time and full time.
The first day of the exhibition on Tuesday (26/3/2019), for example, the FEB team held strategic meetings with 10 foreign university partners. Two of them immediately agreed to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU). The two universities are Amsterdam University and The Hague University.
“There are two universities that have submitted MoUs. Namely with Amsterdam University and The Hague University. That's new. "There hasn't been any before (collaboration, ed)," said the Deputy Dean of FEB for cooperation, Dr. Nisful Laila, SE, M.Com.
Meanwhile, continued Nisful, meetings with old partners who have already collaborated or are currently collaborating are held to evaluate and discuss the possibility of further collaboration.
"We are evaluating with other universities the extent of their cooperation. Like with Saxion University. "There is a double degree with him," explained Nisful. "Essentially, we monitor existing ones and start new ones," he added.
Until 2019, FEB UNAIR's collaboration with foreign partners was quite high. The target is to collaborate with five continents. Until now, continued Nisful, in total there are dozens of universities from 20 countries that have collaborated with FEB. These universities come from the continents of Asia, Australia, Europe and Africa.
"After we went to Japan last month, this year we hope to collaborate with America," explained Nisful.
Through participation in APAIE, Nisful hopes that FEB UNAIR will gain more collaboration with partners from foreign universities. So, UNAIR's network with the global community is getting wider.
“This was a big event, almost 2000 delegates attended. They have the same interests. "If we can use it well, then we can take advantage," explained Nisful. (*)
