(FEB NEWS) Wednesday, 23 August 2023, Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR), chaired by Dr. Gancar Candra Premananto, held a Community Service Event, Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the theme "Academic Phenomenon in Pinjol Bondage" together with the Financial Services Authority (OJK), FEB UNAIR Management Department Lecturers and students.
Present at the event: Ismirani Saputri - Deputy Director of Strategic Management, EPK and Regional Government Partnerships as Keynote Speaker; Rifnal Alfani - Consumer Education and Protection Section; Budiono - IKNB Supervision Section; and Rico Tedyono - Chief Operating Officer PT. Communal Financial Indonesia.
This event was held, bearing in mind that in recent years, the use of Pinjol has increased rapidly in Indonesia due to the ease and speed of the process, not only ordinary people but also academics, who are literate, who are still interested in trying to use Pinjol, even though it started from curiosity, or additional financial needs, which ends up getting into debt and other financial problems.
From the FGD, various understandings and conclusions were obtained as well as suggestions, including: 1. The main stronghold for the loan problem is financial literacy; 2. stricter policies for applications, where the terms and conditions must be clearly displayed, so that they do not become a trap for consumers, therefore it is necessary to be strict with advertising materials; 3. The need for special institutions to handle/accommodate students' financial needs, such as cooperatives, of course with terms and conditions tailored to student needs. 4. The need for literacy regarding financial allocation arrangements, so that you can protect yourself from PINJOL advertisements that echo the word AMAN and always include OJK; 5. There are 2 images that accompany Pinjol, the negative and positive side, where the image is determined by several variables: Marketing (which is massive, and emphasizes the convenience side), Lack of literacy from the millennial generation, Socialization to consumers about mental budgeting, so that in the end can achieve pinjol effectiveness; 6. Pinjol literacy is more massive than academic and OJK literacy, so joint activities are needed, where academics are required to apply for community service grants, fintech literacy is really needed by communities that have not been touched by OJK, where OJK will be the supporter.
