Her status as an Account Receivables Accountant at PT ABIM made Mai decide to do an internship at the company where she worked. One of the private readymix concrete companies in Surabaya that is currently developing is Mai's choice to contribute and innovate.
"Luckily, I have an educational background in accounting and experience working in a tax consultancy so my skills and abilities really help my internship activities. "The data, documents and systems that previously existed still couldn't match other competitors, so this is where the challenges I face lie," he said.
As an Airlangga Knight, armed with the knowledge he gained during his studies, Mai has the determination to contribute and provide benefits wherever he is, including at his internship. “I try to improve and make all the work I do better than before. "Several times I also had discussions with my superiors to discuss internal control weaknesses in my division and solutions that could be taken," he said.
Universitas Airlangga Professional Accountant Education (PPAk) has a mandatory course in the form of an internship for its students in semester 2. This internship activity aims to improve students' abilities by matching the knowledge obtained at PPAk with conditions existing in the work environment in various fields relevant to the accounting profession . Apart from that, this internship activity is a means to accommodate the Regulation of the Minister of Research, Technology and Higher Education concerning National Higher Education Standards Article 14 paragraph (6), Article 14 paragraph (7) as well as to fulfill International Education Standards, namely IES No.5. regarding Practical experience requirements.
This internship program is a structured extracurricular activity in the form of work practice activities for Professional Accountant Program (PPAk) students in certain agencies, which are related to the field of accounting both in relevant private and government agencies. Apart from accommodating existing regulations, this activity is also a form of FEB UNAIR's support in implementing Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) 8 points.
