(FEB NEWS) Global Sustainable Development Congress held in partnership with the University of Glasgow - Gilmorehill Campus, University Avenue, Glasgow, G12 8QQ, United Kingdom. The congress carries the theme "Uniting Higher Education, Governments, Industry, and Society for a Sustainable Future" which will be held from 31 October to 3 November 2022.
This congress unites Higher Education, Government, Industry and Civil Society to ensure a prosperous future. more sustainable. At the meeting, we discussed in depth how to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) by facing existing challenges, by turning goals into real actions and impacts.
Universitas Airlangga delegation who attended the congress was Dr. Girl Meinar Sari, dr., M.Kes as Chair of LPPM UNAIR and Savira Rizma Yunita, SM as Internal Coordinator of UNAIR SDGs Center who is also a Master of Management Science Student at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR).
On the first agenda, discussing education, gender and inequality. In realizing quality education, the provision of educational facilities must be accepted and enjoyed by all parties equally without any discrimination. Apart from that, in terms of gender, the world must eliminate all forms of violence against women. In the current era, women's empowerment programs have been widely implemented in every country.
In the Education, Gender and Inequality forum, the Universitas Airlangga proposed creating: (a) an e-learning platform for students; (b) providing free access for the general public; (c) implementation of community service activities that focus on increasing knowledge and expertise in 3T areas (frontier, remote and underdeveloped); (d) providing inclusive education for students with special needs; and, (e) creating and implementing anti-discrimination policies in higher education.
On the second agenda, discussing Health, well-being and demography. As the world grapples with the Covid pandemic and increasing extreme weather and a volatile geopolitical situation, the need to ensure universal healthcare and improve well-being has never been greater.
At the forum, the delegation stated that one form of real contribution that Universitas Airlangga in supporting the provision of good and quality health facilities during the Covid-19 Pandemic is to become a Covid-19 Alert University. Universitas Airlangga Hospital is one of the first referral hospitals in Indonesia. The university has also provided health outreach to the surrounding community and the entire academic community. The university is also participating in overcoming the Covid-19 pandemic through drug development and being part of the domestic vaccine development consortium called the Red and White Vaccine.
On the final agenda, the Delegation proposed strengthening collaboration with all stakeholders to achieve SDG 17.
"In realizing SDG 17, strengthening collaboration is very necessary. Universitas Airlangga has implemented hexahelix collaboration to achieve partnerships in achieving goals. "This collaboration consists of universities, government, NGOs, media, private sector and others," said Savira.
