UNAIR NEWS – Towards the end of 2020, the Chancellor Universitas Airlangga appointed new leaders at the faculty level by appointing a new dean. Prof. Dr. Dian Agustia SE., M.Si., Ak. officially appointed as dean of the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) 2020-2025.
Prof. Dian said that the Covid-19 pandemic was the trigger for major changes that occurred in the world. This causes all sectors to be affected and impacted, including the higher education sector. Since March 2020, higher education institutions, especially at FEB UNAIR, have been directly affected by the pandemic.
“Higher education must make adjustments to all activities in higher education. "The teaching and learning process must continue even though it is done online," he said.
To anticipate the spread of the Covid-19 virus, all learning at FEB UNAIR is carried out online by implementing an e-learning . This is also in accordance with the direction of the Minister of the Ministry of Education and Culture (Kemendikbud) of the Republic of Indonesia.
"Because in this odd semester all learning systems are carried out online, all academics at FEB UNAIR have to make changes," he said.
In terms of educational staff, FEB UNAIR has improved the capabilities of educational staff by implementing or implementing information system technology. Thus, the online learning process at FEB UNAIR can be supported by educational staff who have started to apply information technology.
“Students must not stop teaching and learning activities at FEB UNAIR. "Apart from studying, they also have to carry out student activities," he added.
For student activities, FEB UNAIR has provided supporting facilities by providing online media facilities. These facilities are prepared by the institution for effective implementation of student affairs.
"For lecturers, the effectiveness of implementing e-learning will also be increased so that it can run well. "Hopefully in the next semester we can further increase the effectiveness of implementing this e-learning," he explained.
In order to realize a Smart university in the education sector, the first thing FEB UNAIR did was improve smart education for millennial people . With the industrial revolution and changes caused by the pandemic, the skills needed in the future are changing. College graduates are expected to have the ability to solve problems.
Apart from that, college graduates must also have social skills and process skills . Social skills relate to how graduates are able to negotiate, communicate and coordinate in the world of work. Meanwhile, process skills relate to graduates' thoughts about making contributions to the real world.
Furthermore, Prof. Dian explained that nowadays, literacy related to human and computer technology is very much needed. This causes universities to also start changing their curriculum reorientation.
“University curricula must adapt to the demands of environmental changes. FEB UNAIR will hold a curriculum reorientation. "The effectiveness of e-learning will also be improved," he concluded. (*)
