The Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (FEB Unair) again held an international conference entitled International Conference on Sustainable Environmental Development and Economical Growth (ISEDEG) on Thursday (1/8/2019) at the FEB Unair Building.
The conference, which was attended by academics from within and outside the country, also brought together scientists from various scientific disciplines from Taiwan, Germany and Australia to share views regarding sustainable and environmentally sound economic growth with the main theme "Enhancing Sustainable Environmental Development and Economical Growth".
Nisful Laila, chief organizer and Deputy Dean of FEB, explained that what makes this conference different from others is that the cross-scientific theme includes economics, energy and the environment, allowing academics to collaborate to solve societal problems with a multidisciplinary approach that is a solution.
"We want academics, society and public policy makers to collaborate in finding the best solutions to sustainable economic development issues," emphasized Nisful when interviewed by media crew at the conference.
Opened with a keynote speech from Prof. Chun-Ping Chang from Taiwan, this conference received 125 papers from within and outside the country to be presented on various topics including maritime economics, renewable energy economics, environmental conservation to topics such as air quality management which is currently hotly discussed in the media.
Apart from that, the best papers at this conference that have been selected since last June will be submitted for publication in Scopus indexed journal proceedings. According to Nisful, this cross-scientific theme presents many quality papers with interesting topics such as papers with the title "TrashMart" or waste management transactions as an innovative solution for overcoming environmental issues in Surabaya.
Nisful believes that this conference can have a significant impact on Unair and Indonesia. "This conference is an effort to further strengthen Unair's steps towards becoming a World Class University as well as providing the best solutions for sustainable development issues in Indonesia in particular and the world in general," he concluded.
