Teaching with Ekis (Mejik) is one of the work programs held by the Public Relations Division of the Islamic Economics Student Association Universitas Airlangga . This program aims to provide education and insight to elementary school children as a form of community service. With this program, it is expected to be able to help the realization of SDGs goals in Indonesia, especially the 4th point, namely quality education.
In 2025, the Mejik program in collaboration with the Save Street Child Surabaya community located at the Tomb of Rangkah, Simokerto, Surabaya. By raising the theme "Learn With Your Heart, Live What You Learn", the 2025 Mejik comes in the hope of creating learning experiences that not only focus on knowledge, but also on the instill of life values that shape the character of children from an early age. This theme was chosen in response to the condition of the character of the younger generation which began to be eroded by the times. In the current era, many children learn but do not practice what they have learned. Therefore, Mejik wants to invite children to learn wholeheartedly and apply every lesson in everyday life.
In connection with this theme, we take 2 materials to be taught, namely religion and skills. With this we focus on improving religious knowledge and skills that can be utilized in everyday life. This work program will be held on 1, 3, 4, 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25, 29 May 2025 at 09.30 - 11.00 WIB offline. This activity will also be opened for volunteers around 8 people during the activity. With this program, it is expected that children in the Save Street Child Surabaya community, located in the tomb of the stall, can gain new knowledge related to religious materials and skills that can be utilized in their lives in the future.
