Natural disasters often come unexpectedly and leave a big impact on the community, both physically and psychologically. In situations like this, fast action and social care become very important. As students, our role is not only limited to the academic world, but is also present to help people who are in difficult conditions. With this spirit, the Department of Community Service BEM FEB Universitas Airlangga 2025 presents disaster response, a program aimed at responding to the emergency situation swiftly through the raising and distribution of humanitarian assistance. This program encourages students to be more sensitive to humanitarian issues and be directly involved in the process of recovery of the affected community.
Disaster response is also in line with a few points in the goals of sustainable development, such as SDG 3 (healthy and prosperous life) which emphasizes the importance of access to basic health services for victims, SDG 11 (sustainable cities and communities) that encourage community resilience in dealing with disasters, as well as SDG 13 (Handling Climate Change) related to efforts to respond to the impact of climate change that increasingly triggers natural disasters.
To realize this goal, disaster response is divided into five series of activities. Namely disaster care campaigns, mapping needs, disaster funding, distribution of needs, and evaluation & reports. Each stage is arranged systematically to ensure the assistance provided on target, sustainable, and has a real impact on disaster victims. With the collaboration between students, institutions that partner and the community, it is hoped that this program will be able to become a form of real contribution to BEM FEB UNAIR in responding to natural disasters in a responsive and structured manner. Disaster response is not the end, but the beginning of our long commitment as a student. Because we believe, big changes always start from the small steps taken together with the heart and empathy.
