Abstract

The aim of this research is to determine the influence of the leadership style consisting of considering and initiating structure styles, both jointly and partially, on the effectiveness of managers' leadership styles at KUD Mandiri Inti, KUD Mandiri, as well as at KUD Mandiri Inti and KUD Mandiri in DIY. Apart from that, it is also to find out whether there are differences in the combination of leadership styles and differences in the degree of effectiveness of leadership styles, between managers at KUD Mandiri Inti and managers at KUD Mandiri in DIY. The population of this research is employees of KUD Mandiri Inti and KUD Mandiri who are direct reports to the KUD manager. The sample was taken as many as 142 people from 9 KUD Mandiri Inti and 9 KUD Mandiri, using a purposive c1usster random sampling technique. Primary data collection was carried out using a questionnaire which was directly distributed to respondents. The hypotheses of this research are: (1) the consideration and initiating structure leadership styles, both jointly and partially, have a significant influence on the effectiveness of managers' leadership styles at KUD Mandiri Inti, at KUD Mandiri, as well as at KUD Mandiri Inti and KUD Mandiri in DIY; (2) the consideration leadership style has a dominant influence on the effectiveness of the manager's leadership style, both at KUD Mandiri Inti, at KUD Mandiri, as well as at KUD Mandiri Inti and KUD Mandiri; (3) there is a significant difference in the combination of leadership styles between managers at KUD Mandiri Inti and managers at KUD Mandiri; (4) there is a significant difference in the degree of effectiveness of leadership style between managers at KUD Mandiri Inti and managers at KUD Mandiri. The analysis technique used is multiple linear regression analysis and chi square with contingency tables. Multiple linear regression was used to test hypotheses 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6, while chi square was used to test hypotheses 7 and 8. The results showed: (1) Consideration and initiating structure leadership styles, both together and partial, has a significant influence on the effectiveness of the leadership style of managers at KUD Mandiri Inti, at KUD Mandiri, as well as at KUD Mandiri Inti and KUD Mandiri in DIY; (2) The contribution of the influence of the two leadership style variables to the effectiveness of the manager's leadership style, in KUD Mandiri Inti is 59.94%, while in KUD Mandiri, the contribution is 61.45%, and in KUD Mandiri Inti and KUD Mandiri it is 60.651. (3) At KUD Mandiri Inti, the initiating structure leadership style with r² = 0.2301 has a dominant influence on the effectiveness of the manager's leadership style. Meanwhile at KUD Mandiri, the leadership style that has a dominant influence is the consideration style with r² = 0.2822, and then at KUD Mandiri Inti and KUD Mandiri, the dominant leadership style is the initiating structure style with r = 0.1930: (4) There is no significant difference in the combination of leadership styles between managers at KUD Mandiri Inti and managers at KUD Mandiri in DIY; (5) There is no significant difference in the degree of effectiveness of leadership style between managers at KUD Mandiri Inti and managers at KUD Mandiri in DIY, although in absolute terms (weighted) the degree of leadership effectiveness of managers at KUD Mandiri Inti is slightly higher than at KUD Mandiri in DIY .
