Abstract

Many people want to become an entrepreneur, but many of them give up their desire because they are afraid of failure, risk or uncertainty. However, many are also able to take advantage of business opportunities in creative ways to meet market needs and desires, making them successful entrepreneurs.

One form of business that is an application of company management knowledge is management consultancy services. Management consultants who are graduates of universities from both within the country and abroad offer their expertise to solve problems faced by client companies. The consultancy services offered relate to aspects of company management, namely finance, accounting, human resources and marketing.

'Management consulting services businesses are no different from other types of service businesses with the possibility of success or failure. Management consultants must increase their competitive advantage in order to survive in the current competitive situation.

Factors that increase the competitive advantage of a management consulting business are interesting things to know. The two factors analyzed in this research are entrepreneur characteristics and business planning.

The results of the test using simultaneous regression analysis show that the variables of entrepreneur characteristics and business planning together have a significant effect on business performance with a positive influence of 39.8%, meaning that the higher the quality of entrepreneur characteristics and business planning, the higher the consultancy service business performance. management. Meanwhile, the results of partial regression tests on the entrepreneur's characteristic variables show a significant influence on business performance, meaning that the higher the quality of an entrepreneur's personal characteristics, the higher the business performance. Meanwhile, the business planning variable is not based on research results which do not show a significant influence on business performance.
