Abstract
The young population is a human resource that has better potential than the older generation. The number of young people will increase to reach 70 million people in 2035. It is hoped that this large number will be absorbed into the job market optimally. This research aims to examine and analyze socio-demographic, socio-economic and regional characteristics that influence an individual's chances of becoming a young person not working, attending school or undergoing training (Not in Employment, Education, or Training/NEET). This research uses data from the National Labor Force Survey (Sakernas) in February 2018. The results of descriptive data show that young people who have the opportunity to become NEET are those who are female, married, have low education, have disabilities, live with the head of the household. not working, living in rural areas, and residing on the island of Java respectively with proportions of 29.7 percent, 34.9 percent, 30.3 percent. 49.4 percent, 23.5 percent, 21.5 percent and 24.3 percent. Binary logistic regression analysis shows that individual characteristics seen from socio-demographic, socio-economic and regional aspects show that each of these characteristics has a significant effect on an individual's chance of becoming NEET.
