Abstract

Based on a survey conducted by Gallup in 2016, it shows that the general public views the sales profession as a profession with a low level of honesty and ethics, where these results have been consistent for the last five years in a row. This indicates that there is a negative stereotype in the profession of sales employees, despite the fact that sales employees are the spearhead in increasing company revenue. Apart from that, there is still little research that examines employee deviant behavior in terms of work-family conflict. This research wants to investigate the influence of work-family conflict on workplace deviant behavior as well as the role of job stress and meaningfulness of work on the relationship between these two variables. The research was conducted on sales employees from various companies in Indonesia with a sample size of 182 respondents. The Partial Least Square (PLS) analysis technique was used to process research data. The results show that all direct influences in this study were rejected except for the influence of work-family conflict on job stress. Meanwhile, the moderating influence of meaningfulness of work was proven to be significant in all relationships between variables hypothesized in this study.
