Abstract

As an important role in human resources, employee engagement is a competitive advantage factor in companies. The challenge that companies face to survive in today's industry is how to increase engagement behavior through social exchange relationships, one of which is justice practices. The purpose of this paper is to determine the relationship between distributive and procedural justice on employee engagement with psychological contract fulfillment as a mediating variable. This research uses quantitative data collected using a questionnaire using partial least squares (PLS) to analyze data with SmartPLS software given to 52 employees at PT. Karmand Mitra Andaman, namely a chemical manufacturing and services company. The results of this study show that distributive and procedural justice have a significant positive relationship with employee engagement, while psychological contract fulfillment only mediates the relationship between procedural justice and employee engagement. Implications with respect to organizational functioning are also discussed in this research.

Keywords: distributive justice, procedural justice, employee engagement, psychological contract fulfillment.
