Abstract

The issue regarding changes occurring in the world of work apart from science and technology is the workforce which is experiencing regeneration. The young generation facing the world of work today is known as Generation Y or Gen Y, and is known to have characteristics of faster self and career development than previous generations. This research aims to determine the effect of psychological empowerment on career satisfaction with career competence and career self-efficacy as intermediate variables. This research was conducted on Generation Y employees at PT Semen Gresik. The research approach uses a quantitative approach with data collection techniques through distributing questionnaires to respondents, as well as using PLS to analyze data with the SmartPLS application. The results of this study state that psychological empowerment has a significant positive influence on career satisfaction, career competence, and self-efficacy in the careers of generation Y employees. Career competence is proven to be a mediating variable for psychological empowerment on career satisfaction, but career self-efficacy is not proven to mediate the relationship Psychological empowerment on career satisfaction. The results of this research provide a contribution regarding the management of generation Y employees who are currently pursuing an early career period.
