Abstract
The aim of this research is to analyze the effectiveness of the Performance Appraisal System implemented by the company, as well as identifying the influence of the Performance Appraisal System on employee motivation, job satisfaction and performance. By applying a saturated sampling technique (census method), 120 class III and IV employees who had worked for a minimum of 3 years consisting of section heads, assistant managers, managers and general managers at the Eastern Region Sugar Factory of PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XI (Persero) participated as a respondent. This research utilizes Multiple Regression Analysis, Path Analysis, and Sobel test to analyze and compare theory-based models with actual conditions in the company. Data obtained from path analysis was further processed using SPSS version 20.0 software. The results of this research show that in testing the first hypothesis, the performance appraisal system has a positive and significant effect on performance. Second, it shows that the performance appraisal system has an indirect and significant effect on performance through the mediation of work motivation. The third hypothesis shows that the performance appraisal system has an indirect and significant effect on performance through the mediation of job satisfaction. Apart from that, it is felt that the company has not been able to meet employee expectations in implementing a performance appraisal system effectively.
