Abstract

This research aims to find out how the company's learning process carries out innovation, imitation and ambidextrous strategies to face its competitors. These three strategies are formed by the company's orientation (regulatory focus) and the company's sources of competition in determining strategy. Regulatory focus consists of promotion and prevention, while strategic sources consist of information and rivalry. Researchers used an experimental study with a total of 120 MM students from Gajah Mada University and Universitas Airlangga who were working to get a perspective from the company's point of view. Experimental results show that promotion and prevention do not differ significantly in forming innovation or imitation. Information will lead to innovation, while rivalry will lead to imitation. The combination of promotion and rivalry will form ambidextrousness, while prevention and information will form innovation. Apart from that, company performance will be better if it uses an ambidextrous strategy.
