Abstract
The success of the Astra Group as the largest automotive company group in Indonesia cannot be separated from the role of suppliers who contribute to the buyer-supplier partnership relationship. Suppliers strive to improve their quality by carrying out organizational learning through the concept of absorptive capacity. The results of learning carried out by suppliers can be an important resource for value creation, in this case supplier performance. Using a strategic orientation perspective, this research aims to show that suppliers who prioritize market orientation and entrepreneurial orientation will find it easier to absorb, process and utilize new knowledge (through absorptive capacity) because they are more sensitive to change and more courageous in facing risks. On the other hand, the empowerment efforts carried out consistently by the Astra Group towards suppliers have become a corporate value. Supplier perceptions of the Astra Group's empowerment efforts form an empowerment climate that can strengthen or weaken the role of absorptive capacity on supplier performance. To test the hypothesis, this research uses Partial Least Square. Based on a survey conducted on 87 Astra Group suppliers in Java using purposive sampling techniques, this research shows that strategic orientation influences suppliers' absorptive capacity. Furthermore, absorptive capacity is proven to influence supplier performance, but is not proven to be moderated by the empowerment climate.
