Abstract

This research analyzes the influence of work-family conflict and family-work conflict with job satisfaction as an intervening variable. Work-family conflict arises because of an imbalance between the role as an employee and the role as a family member. Conflict between work and family responsibilities can result in low job satisfaction, reduce employee motivation and over a certain period of time can result in decreased employee performance. The aim of this research is to analyze and prove that 1) work-family conflict (WFC) has a significant and negative effect on a SKW's job satisfaction. 2) family-work conflict (FWC) has a significant and negative effect on a SKW's job satisfaction. 3) work-family conflict (WFC) has a significant and negative effect on the performance of a SKW through job satisfaction. 4) family-work conflict (FWC) has a significant and negative effect on the performance of a SKW through job satisfaction. This research is empirical research using convenience sampling techniques in data collection. Data was obtained by conducting a survey on 100 regional garden cinder respondents at PT. Perkebunan Nusantara XI (Persero). Data analysis using the Structural Equation Model (SEM) AMOS 21 (Analysis of Moment Structures) program. The results of testing 4 hypotheses (H1, H2, H3 and H4) show that 2 hypotheses (H1 and H3) are accepted, namely that work-family conflict influences job satisfaction, and work-family conflict influences performance through job satisfaction. Meanwhile, the other 2 hypotheses (H2 and H4) that were rejected were that work-family conflict had no effect on job satisfaction, and work-family conflict had no effect on performance through job satisfaction.

Keywords: work-family conflict (WFC), family-work conflict (FWC), job satisfaction, employee performance
