Abstract

With increasing competition, a company is required to be able to have a competitive advantage in order to maintain its position amidst competition in the business world. PT. Barata Indonesia (Persero), which is one of the State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) which operates in the manufacturing sector, is currently in competition to meet customer demand and through the Casting Production Division is trying to compete both in the domestic and international markets. Although in recent years the Casting Production Division has continued to increase production results, it is faced with the problem of high levels of delays. Therefore, it is necessary to improve the Shop Floor Control (SFC) system which can increase productivity to overcome the problems that occur. The purpose of this research is to determine the factors that cause problems, namely delays in order completion and to improve the Shop Floor Control (SFC) system as an effort to increase productivity in the Casting Production Division of PT. Barata Indonesia (Persero). The research approach is an explanatory qualitative approach that explains why problems occur and how to solve these problems. Based on the data processing carried out, the research results obtained are that there are several factors that cause problems based on 5 aspects of the cause and effect diagram, including in terms of Man (Human Resources), Machines (Machines used), Methods (Work Methods), Materials (Materials). Standards used), and Environment. It was found that the factors that most influence the problem of delays are in terms of Man and Methods. Based on these factors, improvements to the Shop Floor Control (SFC) system were then prepared, including making a master schedule, making a standard schedule, making a production schedule, making a detailed schedule, loading workshops, loading critical machines, delivery control sheets, and checking work progress, as well as productive hours are collected and compared with planned hours, analysis of non-productive hours, and reduction in non-productive hours. The implementation of improvements to the SFC work system is an effort to increase productivity in the Casting Production Division. The SFC improvement system is then supported by quantitative data through simulation testing using Arena software. The test results prove that the Shop Floor Control (SFC) improvement recommendation system has a greater output than the existing system. This shows that the Shop Floor Control (SFC) improvement system can increase productivity in the Casting Production Division of PT. Barata Indonesia (Persero). It would be better if the implementation of SFC is also accompanied by outreach to all employees to create consistency in its implementation and to include it in the company's standard rules so that there is continuous system improvement.
