Abstract

Graphichapter, one of the creative design bureaus in Surabaya, is facing the problem of increasingly tight competition in the creative business environment and human resource processing that is not yet effective and efficient, which has an impact on the company's growth. The problem that occurs with graphichapter lies in the management of human resources, namely designers. Designers (designers) have unique characteristics and unlike employees in general, designers have a way of behaving that is not much different from artists, they do not want to be restrained, are undisciplined and several other characteristics that are not in accordance with company management. These unique characteristics of designer behavior make it difficult for Graphichapter management to monitor designer performance and difficult to design a management system that suits their behavior. The aim of this research is to identify behavioral patterns of graphic designer designers, which will become a reference for companies in designing people management in activities and work proportionally and more professionally. This research uses a qualitative method approach with a case study method, because it aims to design KPIs (key performance indicators) based on designer behavior patterns in graphichapter. The result of this research is that it has identified 22 designer behavior patterns which then become the basis for designing KPIs (key performance indicators) for designers, which have been linked to the needs of the designer's job description and company targets. This performance measurement uses 6 measurement dimensions, namely quality of work, timeliness, initiative, cooperation, personal qualities, and creativeness. In this way, designers can work comfortably and proportionally in accordance with the company's KPIs that have been designed and management itself can monitor the designer's performance and determine the strategies that will be used to win the competition.
