Abstract
This research aims to test and analyze the influence of investment and the Human Development Index (HDI) on the economic growth of districts/cities in East Java Province. To test and analyze the effect of economic growth on the demand for Regency/City labor in East Java Province. To test and analyze the influence of labor demand on Regency/City wages in East Java Province. This research is explanatory which explains the influence between variables through hypothesis testing. The data used is secondary data in the form of time series and cross section data, namely data on wages, investment, HDI, labor demand, economic growth for the 2004-2016 period. The analysis technique used is simultaneous panel data regression using the Eviwes 6.0 program. The test results proved that investment and HDI together have a significant effect on the economic growth of districts/cities in East Java Province. Economic growth has a positive and insignificant effect on the demand for district/city workers in East Java. Labor demand has a negative and significant effect on district/city wages in East Java. The results of this research can be used by Regency/City governments in East Java Province to increase investment and HDI in an effort to increase economic growth and demand for labor and wages.
