(Hima S3AK - News) Surabaya, 21 February 2025 - In an effort to improve the quality of academic publications among students of the Doctoral Program, Student Association of the Doctoral Program of Accounting Sciences Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga (Hima PDIA FEB UNAIR) held the activity "Tips, Tricks & Share (TTS) "with the theme of S3 Publication Strategy: successfully penetrating Emerald on Friday, February 21, 2025 via Zoom Online. This event aims to provide insight and practical strategies to doctoral students in penetrating international reputation journals, especially in emerald publishers.
After the presentation of the material, the session continued with the discussion and question and answer that became one of the moments that were very much awaited by the participants. Many participants are enthusiastic about asking questions related to publication strategies, good writing techniques, and how to overcome challenges in the journal review process. Dr. Ranto patiently answers each question with concrete examples and strategies that can be directly applied by the participants. The discussion took place interactively, where some participants also shared their experiences in facing the challenges of scientific publications.
This activity begins with the national anthem of Indonesia Raya and Hymn Airlangga which is echoed as a form of respect and pride for the institution. The event continued with remarks from the Chairman of Hima PDIA Feb Unair, Mas Andy Setiabudi, then a group photo session, as well as the reading of prayer as a symbol of hope that the activity went smoothly and provided benefits to all participants.
Dr. Ranto also shared his personal experience in facing the challenges of publication, including the experience of receiving rejection from international journals and how to deal with it with the right improvement strategy. He explained that the publication process was not an easy journey, but with the right strategy, perseverance, and in -depth understanding of the journal requirements, the opportunity to be accepted in the reputable journal was getting greater. In this session, participants were also invited to reflect on their publication journey with reflective questions such as: "How many times have been rejected? Why are the articles rejected? What really makes an article acceptable in an international journal reputable?"
Not only that, this activity also opens up opportunities for academics academics academics to share knowledge and experience, create stronger academic networks, and encourage cooperation in research and scientific publications (partnership for the goals). With the close partnership between academics, universities, and global scientific communities, it is expected that the quality of research and academic contributions from Indonesia will increase on the international stage. Towards the end of the event, the committee again took over the control of the event for the closing session. In this session, participants were given the opportunity to conduct presence and fill out the evaluation questionnaire to provide input related to the implementation of webinars and the topics discussed. In addition, the committee also conveyed information about the next TTS agenda which will raise the theme of other academic publications that are relevant to the needs of doctoral students.
This activity not only provides insight and skills for doctoral students in scientific publications, but also has a broader impact in supporting several Sustainable Development Goals (SDG's) points. Among other things, improving the quality of academic publications contributes to increasing the competitiveness of Indonesia's academics in the global arena, which in turn can open up greater opportunities for them in obtaining research and scholarship funding (no poverty). With access to better academic resources, it is hoped that their contribution to science and public policy can have an impact on poverty alleviation wider.
Meanwhile, this activity contributes directly in increasing the capacity of Indonesia's academics in writing and publishing quality scientific articles (quality education). The ability to write in a reputable journal not only increases individual academic credibility, but also encourages improving the quality of higher education in Indonesia as a whole. With the increasing number of quality publications, academic institutions in Indonesia can be better known at the global level, which in turn can increase university rankings and its attractiveness for prospective international students.
