Increasingly complex social and humanitarian phenomena demand the active participation of various parties, including students, in providing sustainable solutions. In this context, students not only act as individuals pursuing education, but also as agents of change who have the responsibility to contribute to solving social problems in society. This role can be realized through community service activities that are part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education. Therefore, the Community Service Department of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga 2026 presents the Ruang Abdi work program as a means to shape students who have a high social awareness, are sensitive to their surroundings, and are active in providing solutions to various social and humanitarian issues.
In its implementation, Ruang Abdi adheres to several points in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), and SDG 13 (Addressing Climate Change). Through this program, efforts to increase access to quality education are realized through various educational activities and the dissemination of relevant information to the community.
As a form of implementation of this goal, Ruang Abdi is divided into two main sub-activities. There is the Community Service Information which serves as a forum for providing information regarding community service opportunities through seminars, workshops, and educational publications, thereby increasing students' understanding and readiness to contribute directly. There are also volunteer activities that provide a means for students to directly engage in social actions, such as community education activities, environmental management, and economic empowerment programs that have a positive and sustainable impact. With Ruang Abdi, it is hoped that students can be more active in carrying out their roles as agents of change, not only in the academic realm, but also in efforts to create a more empowered, prosperous, and sustainable society.
