The 2026 Self-Development Program is a work program organized by the Professional Development Department of the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga to improve and optimize students' hard skills. The program is designed as an open platform for self-development, featuring two main series of activities: "ORMAWA Certification" and "Self-Development Program.".
ORMAWA Certification is a series of professional certification activities aimed at members and former members of ORMAWA FEB UNAIR who are still active undergraduate students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga. This activity aims to provide knowledge, insight, and skills that are in accordance with the needs of the world of work. Through structured training, participants are expected to be able to develop technical skills in more depth, while increasing competencies in their fields to be better prepared to face challenges and competition in the professional world. Meanwhile, the Self Development Program is part of a series of activities open to all undergraduate students of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga. This program focuses on developing skills relevant to academic and professional needs, by providing provisions in the form of knowledge, insight, and practical skills that are in line with industry demands. Through systematic and applicable training, participants are expected to be able to optimize hard skills, deepen competencies according to their interests, and improve technical abilities as a whole.
Furthermore, this program supports the achievement of Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) point 8, namely Decent Work and Economic Growth. The difficulty students face in proving the skills gained from organizational experience due to the lack of standardized formal recognition such as certification, has the potential to hinder the development of individual competencies and students' readiness to face the demands and competition in the workplace. Therefore, certification is a strategic step in providing formal recognition of students' skills, especially those gained through organizational experience. The existence of standardized certification can help students demonstrate their competencies more credibly in the eyes of the industrial world. Furthermore, the implementation of a focused and informative certification program will make it easier for students to understand the needs and standards expected by companies.
Thus, students are expected to be better prepared to compete in the world of work, increase productivity, and contribute to driving sustainable economic growth in the era of technological and information development.
