TRANSFORMATION OF EMPOWERED MSMES

Increasingly complex social and humanitarian phenomena demand the active participation of various parties, including students, in providing sustainable solutions. In this context, students serve not only as individuals pursuing education but also as agents of change with a responsibility to contribute to resolving various social issues in society. This role can be realized through community service activities, which are part of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.

Therefore, the Community Service Department of the Student Executive Board of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga 2026 presents the Transforma (Empowered MSME Transformation) work program as an MSME empowerment initiative that focuses on increasing business capacity, digital adoption, and strengthening competitiveness in a sustainable manner. In its implementation, Transforma refers to several points in the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), especially SDG 4 (Quality Education) through training and improving business and digital literacy, SDG 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth) through empowering MSMEs to be more productive and competitive, SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure) through encouraging the adoption of technology in business operations, and SDG 17 (Partnerships to Achieve Goals) through collaboration with various parties.

As a form of implementation of these goals, Transforma is developed through three main integrated phases, namely the training phase which focuses on providing basic understanding regarding business management, financial bookkeeping, and digital marketing, the development phase which focuses on implementation assistance such as the adoption of QRIS, Google Maps, and e-commerce platforms as well as facilitating halal certification, and the creative promotion phase which focuses on increasing exposure and branding of MSMEs through creative promotional activities such as bazaars, collaborations, and social media campaigns. Through this series of programs, Transforma is expected to help MSMEs develop comprehensively, from strengthening internal capacity to expanding the market, while also becoming a forum for students to contribute significantly to empowering the community's economy and creating sustainable social impact.
