(FEB NEWS) Muhammad Maulana has transcended the classroom and entered the international stage. The Accounting student from FEB UNAIR was selected as a fully funded delegate for the Changemaker Youth ASEAN Excursion (CAYE ASEAN) Batch 4, Singapore–Malaysia Chapter, which took place on April 6–10, 2026.
This program, organized by Changemaker Indonesia, promotes leadership, education, and cross-border cultural exchange. Maulana is one of the Indonesian youth representatives who has brought his institution's reputation to the ASEAN regional level.
Over five days, the series of activities was both intensive and meaningful. The first day began with a cultural exploration of Malaysia, including visits to the Pink Mosque and Batu Caves, two icons representing a rich history and spirituality. The journey continued to Singapore on the second day, with visits to Jewel Changi Airport, Universal Studios Singapore, the prestigious National University of Singapore campus, and iconic landmarks like Gardens by the Bay and Merlion Park.
Entering the third and fourth days, the focus of activities shifted to academic visits to Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia and Universiti Kuala Lumpur, as well as Universiti Malaya. This series closed with a cultural exploration through a visit to the Petronas Twin Towers and a traditional Malaysian art performance which enriched the cross-cultural perspective of the delegates.
The fifth day's activities culminated in a Mini Conference session, where each delegate presented a case study based on a global issue. Maulana's theme was the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), a strategic issue relevant to current challenges in the ASEAN region.
Her performance at the international forum yielded brilliant results. She won four awards: 1st Media Presentation Winner, 1st Best Group Winner, 1st Best Presenter Winner, and the highest award, Best Delegate CAYE ASEAN Batch 4.
"This experience taught me that our capabilities are far greater than we ever imagined. Standing on the international stage and presenting my ideas to delegates from various regions truly changed my perspective," said Maulana.
Participating in this program is not only a personal achievement but also reflects the contribution of Indonesia's young generation in advancing the global agenda, particularly the SDGs. Maulana returns home not just as a participant, but as a changemaker, bringing with him the spirit of change.
This achievement is expected to inspire other students to dare to step out of their comfort zones, take advantage of international opportunities, and prove that Indonesia's young generation is capable of competing and shining at the ASEAN level.
