(FEB NEWS) The global supply chain is no longer just a matter of distributing goods. Amidst the acceleration of digitalization, it has now transformed into a complex system that demands precision, speed, and technological integration. This reality became the foundation for the Department of Management, FEB UNAIR, to hold a guest lecture entitled "Global Operations Management and Digital Logistics Supply Chain" on Friday, April 10, 2026, at the Miendrowo Hall, Dharmawangsa-B Campus, FEB UNAIR.
Featuring Imam Santoso, President Director of PT Varia Usaha Bahari, the forum explored practical application of supply chain management in the logistics industry. He presented to students and lecturers from the Operations Management group how the structure of Supply Chain Management (SCM) has undergone significant shifts with the penetration of digital technology.
The discussion focused on a key point, so mastering the concepts alone was not enough. Students were required to understand how supply chains operate in a real-world context, from planning and distribution to responding to global market dynamics. Moderator Raras Kirana Wandira, Ph.D., guided the discussion to maintain a critical tone, while the presence of Dr. Tuwanku Aria and the lecturers reinforced the forum's academic tone.
After the main session, the discussion continued on opportunities for collaboration between campuses and industry. Led by the Head of the Management Department, Dr. Yetty Dwi Lestari, SE., MT., and the Head of the Quality Assurance Unit, Prof. Dr. Indrianawati Usman, SE., M.Sc., the discussion focused on the need to build a more applicable learning ecosystem.
Prof. Indrianawati emphasized that guest lectures are not merely supplementary but crucial tools in bridging the gap between theory and practice. "Students need to understand the lecture material holistically, not just conceptually, but also to see its relevance in the field," she said.
He also emphasized that collaboration with industry opens up broader opportunities for students, such as internships and academic engagement aligned with the needs of the workplace. Therefore, partnerships are no longer an optional option but rather a learning strategy.
Through this forum, FEB UNAIR affirmed its position as an institution that not only transmits knowledge but also designs contextual learning experiences. This approach is crucial for producing graduates who are not only competent but also adaptable to global complexities.
