PUBLIC SPEAKING CLASS INTERNAL 2026

Amidst the rapid development of the digital era, people's communication patterns have undergone significant changes. Digital platforms like TikTok and Instagram have fostered the phenomenon of short attention spans, where audiences tend to be more attracted to concise, clear, and engaging information. This situation requires individuals, especially students, to be able to convey ideas effectively in a short time using appropriate communication techniques.

Responding to this challenge, WEBS Universitas Airlangga held the 2026 Internal Public Speaking Class (PSCI) with the theme "Mastering the Elevator Pitch." This activity was designed to develop communication skills for internal members of the organization, particularly in conveying ideas concisely, clearly, and engagingly amidst the fast-paced dynamics of digital communication.

Through this activity, participants will learn the concept of elevator pitching, a technique for conveying ideas, concepts, or key messages concisely, concisely, and persuasively within a limited time. The material will be delivered through presentation sessions, interactive discussions, and hands-on practice sessions such as pitching simulations and public speaking challenges, allowing participants to understand and hone their communication skills in a practical way.

This activity aims to improve students' communication skills so they can convey ideas effectively amidst the rapid dynamics of digital communication. In addition, this activity also provides benefits that are in line with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). First, this activity supports Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Quality Education) by improving the quality of learning and developing students' soft skills. Second, this activity contributes to Sustainable Development Goal 8 (Decent Work and Economic Growth), because elevator pitching skills are an important competency in the professional and entrepreneurial world. In addition, the implementation of this activity also reflects a spirit of collaboration that is in line with Sustainable Development Goal 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through cooperation between the committee, participants, and supporting parties in creating a productive learning environment.

With this PSCI activity, it is hoped that participants will be able to adapt to communication patterns in the digital era, increase their confidence in public speaking, and be able to convey ideas concisely, clearly, and impactfully in a society that has limited time to receive information.
