Cooperative visits are routine activities carried out every year which are part of the Cooperative Economics course.
KSPS Setia Kawan is the destination for this year's cooperative visit. KSPS Setia Kawan is one of the few cooperatives in Indonesia that is considered capable of demonstrating the true identity of cooperatives. It serves as an umbrella for its members, especially the surrounding community, and as a driver of the Indonesian economy. The cooperative, located in Nongkojajar Pasuruan, has more than six thousand active members out of a total of approximately nine thousand members. Choosing the dairy sector as its main business, KPSP Setia Kawan is able to generate a turnover of more than 263 billion per year. This cooperative is like a liaison. There are approximately 21,570 cows in partners who are able to support milk production. It obtains pure cow's milk products from farmers, who are none other than its members, then sent to the Company.
According to the Manager of KPSP Setia Kawan, this cooperative supplies only one company, PT Indolakto, whose products we often encounter and even consume: Indomilk milk. Members' milk deposits to the cooperative also undergo strict selection processes, as quality is a top priority. One of these is the alcohol test. There's something interesting about the testing process. When a member sends milk to the cooperative at 5:00 AM or 3:00 PM for an alcohol test and the milk is broken, the milk will be returned to the member with food coloring. This is to anticipate if a member has deposited milk in the morning, so they are not expected to deposit it in the afternoon with low quality. This cooperative's discipline in maintaining the quality of its milk products is evident. This is what is hoped to be present in the Indonesian economy. Providing opportunities for production, not just opportunities for consumption.
