Accounting Knowing Better (AKB) is a seminar organized by the Accounting Student Association of the Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga as part of a series of welcoming activities for new students in the Accounting Undergraduate Program. The seminar aims to provide new students with initial insight into the world of accounting, both academically and professionally, so they can gain a broader understanding of the field they will study during their studies.

Through this activity, new students are expected to not only familiarize themselves with the curriculum and academic environment Universitas AirlanggaAccounting Study Program, but also understand the various opportunities for self-development, career prospects, and future challenges. This way, students can prepare themselves early to optimally navigate the learning process and develop the competencies needed to navigate the ever-evolving dynamics of the workplace.

AKB 2026 raised the theme “Future Ledger: Writing Your Journey in Accounting” as a representation of students’ initial steps in starting their journey as prospective professional accountants and was inspired by the term ledger in accounting, namely a general ledger that functions as a place to systematically record all transactions as a basis for compiling financial information.

Through this theme, the ledger is interpreted as a metaphor for a student's journey throughout their education in the Accounting Study Program. Every lesson learned, experience gained, challenge faced, and achievement made up a valuable "record" that gradually shapes the student's competence, character, and identity as a future accountant.

Amidst technological developments, digitalization, artificial intelligence (AI), and changing industrial needs, the accounting profession is required to possess not only technical skills in accounting, but also critical, analytical, adaptive, and communicative thinking skills, as well as upholding professional integrity. Through the Accounting Knowing Better (AKB) 2026 seminar, new students will gain insights from speakers from various accounting professions, thus enabling them to understand various career options, professional challenges, and competencies that need to be prepared during their studies.
