Interdisciplinary Scientific Competition for Nation Development, hereinafter referred to as “ISCOOL 2018”
National Essay Competition Interdisciplinary Scientific Competition for Nation Development, hereinafter referred to as "ISCOOL 2018" is one of the work programs of the ERC (English and Research Community) of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Semarang State University which aims to improve student creativity and increase student interest in the field of scientific work. "ISCOOL 2018" itself has the theme "Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals in the Global Era", with this essay competition students are expected to be able to contribute in the form of ideas or thoughts in written form. More than that, it is also hoped that students can explore the potential that exists within themselves.
This event took place on Thursday to Sunday, October 25-28 2018. The delegate from Universitas Airlangga was Tita Novita Sari from the 2015 Islamic Economics Study Program.
On October 25th, the participants began arriving in Semarang. The committee began their duties of picking them up from various pick-up points: Ahmad Yani International Airport, Semarang, Tawang Station, Poncol Station, Terboyo Terminal, and Pojok Ungaran Terminal. Afterward, the participants rested and continued with a technical meeting in the evening at Wisma Menorah.
The next day, October 26, 2018, participants entered the main event, namely the presentation of the essay finalists. The finalists were 14 essay participants who successfully passed the essay selection from a total of 154 participants from across Indonesia. The main event was held on the 3rd floor of the LP2M Building, Semarang State University. The event began with entertainment, remarks from various parties, namely the committee chair, the ERC chair, and the FIS dean, and prayers.
After the finalists entered the presentation room, presentations were conducted in turns, with random numbers assigned. The judging was conducted by three judges, all lecturers from Semarang State University. The presentations continued until 4:00 PM, after which the participants returned to Wisma Menoreh to rest.
The next event on October 27th was an International Discussion with the theme "The Role of Youth to Achieving SDGs 2030". The event was attended by UNNES exchange program students from various countries, namely Vietnam, Madagascar, India, China, and Columbia. The event was held on the 3rd Floor of the LP2M Building, Semarang State University. After that, it continued with the announcement of the winners and closing. Universitas Airlangga delegation was ranked 7th out of 14 finalists.
On the final day, October 28, 2018, participants visited various historical sites in Semarang, including Lawang Sewu and Sampokong. Afterward, they returned to their respective campuses.
Every fighter in a race is a winner, because he succeeds in fighting the fear within himself to fight on the race field facing many competitors.
Competition isn't just about winning or losing. It's about the process of self-improvement through every struggle. It's about the valuable experiences and relationships gained.
