Unair Introduces Development Economics Study Program, Its Graduates Easily Find Jobs

Jakarta – Universitas Airlangga (Unair) has introduced a development economics study program at the Faculty of Economics and Business. This program offers many advantages, one of which is the ease of employment for graduates.
According to the Head of the UNAIR Department of Economics, Rossanto Dwi Handoyo, SE, MSi, PhD, the program's curriculum is workforce-oriented. As a result, graduates are better prepared for professional careers.

"If our graduates can work anywhere, it's because our curriculum is applied. The knowledge we impart to students can be used in the job market," he said on UNAIR's official website, quoted on Monday (March 28, 2022).

Graduates of UNAIR's Development Economics program have worked in government institutions, the private sector, and non-governmental organizations (NGOs) at home and abroad, including Bank Indonesia (BI), the Ministry of Finance, and the World Bank.

Some alumni have also pursued careers as academics and industry practitioners. Currently, Unair's Development Economics study program is ranked among the top 600 in the world by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) World University Rankings (WUR) by Subject.

The Development Economics study program at Airlangga University's Faculty of Economics and Business was established in 1961. This program continuously hones students' theoretical and analytical skills to examine various social and economic issues. Graduates are expected to provide concrete solutions to development issues.

Muhammad Daffa, an alumnus of the Development Economics study program at Airlangga University's Faculty of Economics and Business, stated that he thoroughly enjoyed the learning process during his studies. This was due to the engaging material and the competent quality of the lecturers.

"In terms of teaching capabilities, the lecturers are also beyond doubt. They're all really great, with a wide variety of personalities and teaching styles," said the BI practitioner.

Daffa, who majored in science after graduating from high school, initially didn't understand the lessons in the development economics program. However, over time, with the support of qualified facilities and lecturers, Daffa was able to understand and complete his studies successfully.
