(FEB NEWS) The Faculty of Economics and Business Universitas Airlangga in collaboration with the Regional Executive Board of the Indonesian Society of Appraisers (DPD MAPPI East Java) and the Center for Financial Professional Development (PPPK) of the Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, held an "Appraisal Profession Socialization" event. The event was held at the Fadjar Notonagoro Hall, 2nd Floor, FEB UNAIR, on September 13, 2022.

The “Appraiser Profession Socialization” activity was attended by more than 200 participants consisting of: Appraisers from the Public Appraisal Services Office (KJPP), the Indonesian Appraisal Professional Society (MAPPI) for the East Java region, the Center for Financial Profession Development – ​​Ministry of Finance of the Republic of Indonesia, lecturers, students, alumni and community elements.

Present as speakers and moderators: 1. Mushtofa, ST., MT., MM. MAPPI (Cert) – Chairman of the East Java MAPPI DPD; 2. Dr. Arie Wibowo, SE., ST., MSAk., CPA. – Head of the Financial Professional Development Division; 3. Guntur Pramudiyanto, SE., M.Ec., Dev., MAPPI (Cert) – Chairman 1 of the MAPPI DPN, and 4. Akhmad Jayadi, SE., M.Ec., Dev. – Moderator/Lecturer of the Department of Economics, FEB UNAIR.

It should be noted that the appraiser profession currently has an important role in various fields, including in the preparation of government financial reports, asset management, taxation, banking, capital markets, infrastructure development (land acquisition for public interest), and so on, but until now it has not been regulated by law like other professions such as Advocates, Notaries and Accountants. 

As stated by Akhmad Jayadi, SE., M.Ec., Dev., in his review to open the material session. The participants who attended were invited to understand how important the “Socialization of the Appraiser Profession” event was held, in order to provide support for the Appraiser Bill, so that it can be passed as a Law. “This appraiser is something that is urgent. Why urgent?, Indonesia with this many people, this vast geography, this many assets, with only, as said by Rossanto Dwi Handoyo, SE.,M.Si.,Ph.D. – Head of the Department of Economics FEB UNAIR, in his remarks, that there are only 4042 registered appraisers in 2022, and data that has been certified from the Ministry of Finance, we are still 700, and that is concentrated in Java, DKI and Bali, while neighboring countries, such as Malaysia already have laws”. Furthermore, Akhmad Jayadi, SE., M.Ec., Dev. Saying that in Indonesia there is not only a shortage in the number of assessors, but also in the professional path, academic path, and then the rules/regulations.

Considering the urgency and also the career opportunities that are still so great, Mushtofa, ST., MT., MM. MAPPI (Cert) as the Chairperson of the East Java MAPPI DPD, in his remarks at the beginning of his material, conveyed: first, his gratitude to FEB UNAIR for its support so that the "Socialization of the Appraisal Profession" event could be held, and second, Mushtofa also expressed his hope, that by looking at the extraordinary achievements of FEB UNAIR (in the QS World University Ranking by Subject 2022, it was recorded: Economics and Econometrics, at the Global level ranked 251-300, and at the domestic level ranked 1; Accounting & Finance, at the Global level ranked 201-250, and at the domestic level ranked 2=; and Business & Management Studies, at the Global level ranked 301-350, and at the domestic level ranked 3), Mushtofa hopes that in the future they can collaborate to build new science/appraisal majors at Airlangga University, especially at FEB UNAIR.

The event was packed with participants, and everyone enthusiastically participated. Participants asked a variety of insightful questions to satisfy their curiosity about the "importance and significant opportunities" of the appraisal profession. Even the three quizzes posed by the MC were answered brilliantly and perfectly by selected participants.
