Building a Global Academic Ecosystem, UNAIR and UBD Management Agree on a Student Mobility and Joint Research Program

(FEB NEWS) The academic collaboration between the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) and Universiti Brunei Darussalam (UBD) shows strategic development. In a research collaboration discussion held with the Department of Management on Friday (April 24, 2026), Prof. Dr. Syazwan Ab Talib from UBD discussed the potential for joint research as well as a number of international programs oriented towards strengthening student mobility, cross-border academic activities, and developing long-term cooperation.

One important initiative announced was the plan to bring UBD master's students on an academic visit to Surabaya next semester. This visit is designed to both serve as an academic activity and provide students with an opportunity to conduct industrial visits to companies focused on the transportation sector.

The program is expected to provide students with practical, industry-based learning experiences and international insights to understand the dynamics of management and supply chains in the transportation sector. Furthermore, this activity is a strategic step in strengthening academic ties between the two institutions through direct interaction between students, faculty, and industry partners.

On the research side, various topics are discussed to strengthen collaboration through a joint research scheme. The targeted output is to produce scientific publications in reputable international journals. This research collaboration covers various strategic areas, such as supply chain management, halal supply chain, green supply chain, and sustainability-based industrial development.

As a concrete step to ensure the sustainability of this collaboration, both parties plan to draft a formal cooperation contract that will serve as the legal framework for various future collaborative programs. This cooperation document is expected to accommodate a wide range of academic activities, including joint research, student exchanges, collaborative teaching, and international scientific activities.

This collaboration is part of the strategic efforts of the Department of Management, Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga to strengthen the internationalization of higher education and improve the quality of learning and research based on global collaboration. Through these initiatives, it is hoped that an academic ecosystem will be created that is more adaptive, collaborative, and relevant to the needs of industry and the global community.
