
FEBNEWS – Amidst the competitive dynamics of the hotel industry, Mohamad Yusak Anshori has emerged as a figure who has not merely survived but led the transformation. An alumnus of the Doctoral Program in Economics, Faculty of Economics, University of Airlangga (FEB UNAIR) in 2005, he now serves as Vice President of Marketing for Prime Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Professor of Management at UNUSA, and President Director of PT Singleterra Tbk.
But the journey didn't begin in a grand boardroom. He began at the very foundation of his fieldwork in the hospitality industry, delving into guest service, understanding operational rhythms, and feeling the pulse of the tourism sector from a distance.
“The biggest challenge was proving that managerial skills and marketing strategies could bring about real change,” he said.
Arranging National Strategy from Corporate Control
Now, as the marketing strategist at Prime Plaza Hotels & Resorts, Yusak leads the digital marketing transformation, strengthening brand positioning, and driving a data-driven commercial approach. His role ensures that every hotel in the chain is moving in the same direction, modern, adaptive, and relevant to market needs.
A turning point came when Yusak was entrusted with leading the hotel unit, then corporate strategy. This moment solidified his belief that combining academic competence and technical experience was the key to transforming the industry.
Leading Academia and Corporations at the Same Time
Yusak's work also extends beyond the academic realm. He serves as a Professor of Management at UNUSA, teaches in several master's and doctoral programs in management at other universities, and also serves as President Director of PT Singleterra Tbk.
The journey shaped his perspective on the essence of leadership: “Grow, serve, and benefit.”
According to him, success is not measured by high position, but by how much value one brings to others.
Serving Back to Alma Mater
His connection to FEB UNAIR has never waned. Yusak is now actively serving as a seminar speaker, mentoring students and doctoral candidates, and even providing internship and recruitment opportunities for recent graduates. Both in the classroom and in research discussions, Yusak brings his industry experience as a vibrant learning experience.
"Knowledge grows when it's shared. A true leader is one who can create future leaders," he stressed.
His three strategic achievements have now become his professional identity:
- Vice President Marketing Prime Plaza Hotels & Resorts, leading the national marketing transformation.
- Professor of Management at UNUSA, solidifying his contribution as an academic.
- President Director of PT Singleterra Tbk, leads the company at the highest level.
All of this is built on a simple foundation, namely the courage to make small but consistent decisions.
