The 2nd Airlangga National Conference of Accounting (ANCA 2018)

Being the youngest individual in the prestigious event held by PSDKU Universitas Airlangga Banyuwangi in the 2nd Airlangga National Conference of Accounting 2018 event was something that Raden Roro Widya Ningtyas Soeprajitno (Semester 5 – Class of 2016) never expected. This Universitas Airlangga – Surabaya student bravely participated in the Accounting Paper/Scientific Work writing event and competed with lecturers of various ages and degrees throughout Indonesia.

Roro (2016), the familiar greeting for this student, passed and her paper was worthy of selection along with 40 other papers from the total of 105 participants who submitted papers to be published in the PSDKU Universitas Airlangga Journal and has a reputation indexed by DOAJ. Not only that, it is a matter of pride that the student who is a minority of participants, who is in the 5th semester, who has not yet received a research methodology, and has not yet started writing a thesis introduction can pass among all the participants who come from this lecturer - and there are several final year students and have finished their thesis.

“I just had the courage to submit, made a paper with less than 5 days before the closing, and I didn’t even think I would be accepted,” he said. When asked again about his reasons for participating in the event, he admitted to our team, “I just came back a week ago from the FCAE – ICAEW event and presented my paper, but my paper still received a lot of suggestions, and one of the judges, who is an alumni of UNAIR, as the Head of ICAEW Indonesia – Mr. Deny, encouraged me that my idea would be very good to be improved and completed, he was sure that my paper would be able to be published.”.

He continued, "And when I learned about the ANCA event with the opportunity to publish, I figured it wouldn't hurt to give it a try. I completely changed the content of my paper, completely from scratch. I stayed up all night to finish it and submit it. I didn't expect it to be accepted!"

"I just do what I can, I do my best, to the best of my ability. It has to be perfect, at least, my version. Hehe," he added, reassuring her that he had indeed tried his best.

Our team saw the passion in this fifth-semester student, demonstrating that not trying is blinding you to your potential and abilities! So, just do it, and don't forget to learn to continually improve and become worthy.
