(SDG’s NEWS) Thursday, April 17, 2025 — As part of its continuous efforts to strengthen international collaboration and academic engagement in sustainable development and renewable energy, the Department of Islamic Economics at the Faculty of Economics and Business, Universitas Airlangga (FEB UNAIR), held a Strategic Meeting with Professor Bjorn Berggren, Dean of the School for Architecture and the Built Environment, KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. The meeting took place on Wednesday, April 16, 2025, at the RAPIM ABC Meeting Room, 1st Floor of FEB UNAIR.

This strategic dialogue marked the initial step toward a potential partnership between FEB UNAIR and the renowned Swedish institution, particularly in the context of internationalization, sustainability, and joint research initiatives.

The FEB UNAIR delegation was led by Prof. Dr. Sri Herianingrum, S.E., M.Si., Head of the Department of Islamic Economics, and included:

  • Sulistya Rusgianto, S.E., MIF., Ph.D. – Secretary of the Department of Islamic Economics
    • Martha Ranggi Primanthi, S.E., MIDEC., Ph.D. – Head of the International Office
    • Siti Zulaikha, S.E., M.Si., Ph.D. – Coordinator of the Master’s Program in Islamic Economics
    • Prof. Dr. Tika Widiastuti, S.E., M.Si.
    • Al Marifatul Ala, S.E.I., M.A.

During the meeting, both parties discussed a range of collaborative opportunities, including guest lectures, research fellowships, and potential joint research projects in the area of renewable energy consumption. These initiatives align with KTH’s academic focus on environmental sustainability, an area that intersects meaningfully with ongoing research and development within FEB UNAIR’s Islamic Economics programs.

According to Prof. Dr. Sri Herianingrum, S.E., M.Si., this initiative reflects the Department’s strategic commitment to contributing to global academic discourse while addressing real-world challenges. “We hope this collaboration will enrich the academic experience of both faculty and students, while also producing impactful research that contributes to societal development through the lens of Islamic economics and sustainability,” she remarked.

The outcomes of this strategic meeting are expected to not only enhance FEB UNAIR’s international visibility and academic capacity but also generate practical, research-based solutions to pressing environmental and energy issues in Indonesia. By fostering interdisciplinary and cross-border partnerships, FEB UNAIR reaffirms its mission to be a globally engaged institution, committed to academic excellence and community impact.
