ABSTRACT

When the only customer who always absorbs the product of a sole supplier has changed its purchasing policy, which now allow other suppliers to offer their product, this company must struggle to find a way to keep its competitive advantage to win the competition over its competitors. These efforts need competitive strategy to carry on and to focus all of its potential to apply this strategy.
Since 2014, PT. ABC has chosen Focus Cost Leadership Strategy to maintain its competitive advantage in its attempt to win the competition. However, the records show a constant declining in its revenue and salary. This research was aimed to make evaluation on its implementation and to find out whether or not this strategy fits the condition of PT. ABC, and how to apply it. The research method used was exploratory case study, and the information sources were some of company’s board director members.
The findings were including the conclusion that some elementary changes need to be done in order to apply the strategy. The advise then were to improve the maintenance system and to apply lean mining as tool of Focus cost leadership.
