Abstract
Based on a preliminary study conducted with several informants, IT (Information and Technology) professionals are a profession that is vulnerable to technostress. This is because IT professionals are directly involved in the IT field, making it very possible for them to experience technostress. The condition of technostress in IT professionals is indicated by several indications such as techno-complexity, techno-invasion, techno-uncertainty, techno-overload, and techno-insecurity. However, despite having indications of technostress, IT professionals remain in the IT field. Therefore, it is important to dig deeper into how IT professionals cope with technostress within themselves, thus enabling them to survive in the IT field. This study is a qualitative study, in accordance with the study's objective of digging deeper information regarding the management of technostress carried out by IT professionals, so that they are able to survive in the IT field. Semi-structured interviews were used in this study to obtain information from informants. Data triangulation and member checking were used in this study as a validation strategy for data validity. Meanwhile, to ensure reliability, this study used transcript checking. The findings of this study provide information that there are two main categories in technostress management carried out by IT professionals. These management strategies include problem-focused coping and emotion-focused coping. Problem-focused coping includes self-improvement as a way to overcome techno-uncertainty and techno-complexity, and determining the scale of priorities to overcome techno-complexity. Meanwhile, emotion-focused coping includes the assumption of work loyalty to overcome ICT overload, self-awareness as a way to overcome techno-overload and invasion, and avoidance of assignments as a way to overcome techno-invasion.
